On the 23rd of May, I finished up my grades, scoured my class room and checked out of my first year as a chorus teacher! And that evening, I packed and hopped in the car and headed "home." I stayed home for a week and a half or so. It was nice to be home and see family and friends. Right after that I caught a plane to Newburgh, NY and stayed with my uncle and his family. Yessica and I went up there to attend Sarah Townley's wedding. It was all very short and to the point - like Sarah, I suppose. The wedding was at 1, and by 3:30 they were in the "get away" car. Sarah looked very beautiful and happy. I'm glad we went to the wedding.
So here at Circle C youth ranch, I've been in charge of five-year-old boys.... oh joy. I'm more of a fourth grade and up kinda person. The first thing I had to do was hold a crying little boy who wanted mommy... I was thinking oh great this is how my whole month of June is going to be, but today was a little better. Still the same criers, but they end up having a blast. I'm exhausted though.
Totally random, but I'm so annoyed about gas prices... is anyone else? What in the world? If we'd quit doing dances around all these idiots and put our foot down--- anyway I'm sure it's more complicated than that, but are these people serious?... ridiculous...
K well .. see ya

Almost to the End......
It's 10:00 on Sunday night, and I'm about to wake up tomorrow morning to the LAST Monday of this school year. i am SO excited about school being over. not that i didn't enjoy this year, but it's been time for a break for about a month now. next saturday i'm driving up to birmingham with my doggie to visit my mom and dad. it's about a 12 hour trip -- this will definitely be the longest trip i've ever made by myself.
so lately, i've been trying to make some changes in my life. i feel like i've been existing and going through the motions. i know every Christian goes through that, but i'm not going to be content just existing. it has meant that i've had to get rid of some friends too... and that part is sorta hard i guess. just a huge long story, but i've had enough of all the drama. i have better things to do that worry about them! but the Lord has given me one really good friend here in miami, and she's a sweetheart.
so is blogging supposed to be talking about yourself? or just whatever comes to mind? or what? i don't quite get it... but whatever. i have no idea how to search people on know on this blog thing. nor still do i know how to add links to my page.... i feel dumb cuz i don't know how to work this thing. that's why i never get on here. lol
thanks for reading -- sorry it's boring. :)

I love Saturdays
Saturdays are absolutely wonderful. I can get my apartment cleaned (or not), and I don't have to talk to ANYONE if I don't want to!!! Today i have done... hmm... nothing at all!
i honestly can't wait for this school year to be over because i'm ready for a new one to start. after the summer of course so that i have time to prepare. but you know what i mean!
Last week, during my spring break, i flew to knoxville and visited Crown. it was such an awesome visit. i stayed with my best friend, Yessica, and spent time with other amazing friends-- Taryn, Courtney, Marla, Kelly, Sam, Mary, Caleb, Josh, Mindy, Ruth, Hannah, and others. Some i only got to spend a few minutes with, but it was just wonderful to see them. as much as i miss everyone though, and Pastor Sexton, and just the whole atmosphere, i really dont' miss college. is that a surprise?? haha. those three days was just the dose that i needed of the past and everything that i enjoyed there. but i belong here in miami now with my students. i'm praying that maybe one day -- like in a few years -- i'll go back to Crown for my graduate degree. probably by then the grad school will be more developed.
well i'm blabbing but i'll blab some more... last night my car got hit for the second time in like 3 months. and each time my car was parked in a clearly marked parking space. the first time was just a little scrape to the bumper, but this time, a girl in a red mini-van left a nice dent in the driver side of my car. fortunately it was toward the rear and didn't do any damage to the door. poor girl came knocking on my door at 12:30 AM! i felt bad for her because she felt so bad! it's funny.... all those years i drove thaat big ugly 1992 crown victoria, now i have a somewhat decent car, a 2001 camry LE, and my nice car is the one getting dinked and dented!! oh well, they are going to take care of the damage, so no big deal!
i suppose that's all for now... . i have a busy few weeks coming up but i'm looking forward to them. a recital, competitions, and three concerts coming up... that's enough to stress out any music teacher :). please leave me a comment. i'd love to hear from you :) Iris

Junior Highers.....
Hi folks! i'm going to take a stab at this blogging thing! plus i see a lot of friends on here that i'd like to keep in touch with so there you have it!
My first year teaching has been quite the experience. now that it's the fourth quarter, i finally have a small idea of what i'm doing. :) i say "teaching" but i suppose it's more "directing." i have a full time position as the chorus teacher at Westwood Christian School in Miami. in the morning, i teach fourth grade choir, then fifth grade choir, then i have a break, teach sixth grade choir, then junior high, then high school. it's been fun to have contact with a span of different age groups. i love my students even though sometimes i dont' feel like i have enough years on them to be in charge. most of my seniors are only about 5, 6 years younger than me, but we get along great! the little ones are soooo precious!! i have to be so careful about making sure that my clothes and hair are just right, or the fourth graders will definitely notice if something is out of place! and they aren't afraid to say something! "miss ramon, did you run out of hair gel, because you've worn your hair straight for a whole week now." yes! they actually say stuff like that to me!!! it cracks me up!!
about the junior high -- today i had a few seventh graders in my class room after school and they like to sing and chat and all that, and a couple of them were looking over my shoulder and saw me log in to my AIM mail. so of course they were like all freaking out "miss ramon!!! you have AIM????? like oh my goodness like i can't believe it!" ok so i get home this after noon, turn on my computer and log into AIM and you guessed it, TWO of my 7th graders IMed me, one of whom was not even in the room today!!! so of course these precious little children are passing around miss ramon's AIM name!!! they are so pumped about it! they think it's way cool that a teacher has AIM!!! hahahaha .... oh great my AIM is about to get blown up by seventh graders wanting to chat... AAAAAAAHHH!!!!!! :D
